Quit This Job And Love It | Forbes
An article in Forbes by Kiri Blakeley about JetBlue working-class hero Steven Slater that features Please Fire Me. Here’s a selection from her piece on the current state of the work environment, “The bleak job market means that most of us, no matter how miserable, sit around fantasizing about quitting rather than actually doing it. So when someone like Slater or “Jenny the Assistant” does claim freedom, and does so dramatically, they become working class heroes—even if they aren’t real.
‘I’m not surprised people are flipping out,’ says Adam Chromy, co-creator of the website Please Fire Me . ‘One percent of the people in this country make all the money, and everyone else has nothing but a soul-crushing job. I think there’s going to be another French Revolution.’ (Presumably he means in this country this time.)”
